Federal Government Approves New PPP Solar Power Project in Kaduna

August 28, 2025
The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has confirmed that the Federal Government has approved a new solar power Public–Private Partnership (PPP) project in Kaduna State. The project, valued at over ₦75 billion, is expected to provide renewable electricity to more than 200,000 households and small businesses across rural and semi-urban communities. According to the ICRC, the PPP will be executed in phases, with the first phase scheduled to commence in Q4 2025. The Commission added that the project would significantly reduce dependence on the national grid while promoting clean and sustainable energy in Nigeria. Speaking at the approval ceremony, the ICRC Director-General emphasized that the project reflects the government’s commitment to diversifying Nigeria’s energy mix and addressing persistent power shortages. The project is also expected to create over 1,500 jobs during construction and at least 500 permanent jobs upon completion.
